Recording

I made my first professional recordings in the late 90’s. Whether it’s voiceover or drums, I feel comfortable in every situation.

Audio Post Production

My first project as a editor was Georgica directed by Sulev Keedus in 1997. Since then I’ve been working as a sound designer, sound editor or mixer on many local and international projects.

ADR & Dialogue Editing

ADR (automated dialogue replacement) is one of the most difficult parts in audio post production but it can also be a fun if you know how to do it. I hope I do, at least this is what my clients say.

Mixing

From mono and up to full length feature film in 7.1 – everything is doable.

During the last 10-15 years I’ve been working and mixing mostly for TV and Film but occasionally, I still do music projects as well.

I started my music career in 1987 in a band called Krimbel, followed by Linnu Tee (1989) and so on. During the 90’s and 00’s I’ve toured with many local headliners such as Blacky, Koit Toome, Compromise Blue, Terminaator etc. I’ve engineered, produced and mixed several local chart hits, wrote some songs, even “Keelatud maa” (Forbidden Land by Maarja) which represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin in 1997. So, there’s a lot to remember. I also composed for commercials, TV and film. I mostly play the keyboards, but also guitar, bass, saxophone, harmonica and the ukulele.

Video

This is my second hobby. It began in the beginning of 2000s when the first video camera appeared in our house. Everything started from home videos, then home videos of my friends, then company and product portfolios, even short documentary. But of course, this is pretty random and I do it as a hobby, but I really enjoy this.

The best editors in film industry came from sound, or they are really skillful in sound as well. Editing gave me a great opportunity to understand problems of sound in editing and vice versa and it helped me a lot in my work.

Teaching

Since 2017 I’ve been working as a lecture at the Baltic Film,Media, Arts and Communication School of Tallinn University. I teach Feature Film Sound for the Kinoeyes | KEM European Movie Masters programme.
